Interns of the Business Design & Optimization Group are exceptional undergraduate and graduate students will a passion for project management and consulting. Each year a new cohort of students join the team and help to make a positive impact on the university and its constituents.

Dominic Parente

Program: Economics

Georgetown College, C’22

Dominic is a junior majoring in economics; he has interned for the Business Design & Optimization Group for the past year. His work has featured redesigning the financial affairs website and reporting on key trends in COVID-19 news. The skills and professionalism he developed from his work at BDOG helped him secure an internship at the Boston Consulting Group this summer. Outside of school and work, he is a member of the Georgetown Pep Band and the Knights of Columbus, Georgetown’s catholic service fraternity. Dominic is an avid Georgetown Hoyas and New York Jets fan.

Will Wu

Programs: Political Economy

Georgetown College, C’22

Will is a junior majoring Political Economy in the College. He grew up abroad in China and is currently based in Oregon. He transferred to Georgetown prior to his sophomore year and has been part of the inaugural intern class at BDOG. At BDOG, he enjoys addressing internal business needs through working closely with other interns and full-time associates. In his free time, he enjoys podcasting, traveling and following Georgetown soccer. He is a huge fan of Liverpool FC.

Mi Nei Daley

Program: International Politics with a focus on International Law

Walsh School of Foreign Service, C’22

Mi Nei is a Junior majoring in International Politics with a minor in Economics and a certificate in International Business Diplomacy. On-campus, she serves as a program coordinator for the After-School Kids Program, where she supervises mentorships for court-involved youth of the D.C. metropolitan area, as an Executive Cabinet member of the student government (GUSA), and as a member of Georgetown Collegiate Investors, LLC. Off-campus, she is also an intern for a criminal defense law firm and a researcher for the Prosecution Project, where she tracks felony crimes with social-political motivations. Mi Nei enjoys political podcasts, going to cafes, and staying involved in activism and advocacy.

Shrey Bhawate

Program: MS in Data Science and Analytics

Shrey Bhawate is a data fanatic pursuing his Masters at Georgetown University. He grew up in India and graduated from Mumbai University in 2019. Since his first semester at Georgetown, Shrey avidly works with GU Analytics for Non-Profits, a student group that consults various non-profit organizations in Washington DC, helping them with Data Analysis and Machine Learning. He is also the Student Ambassador of the program. This Spring he took part in the Deloitte Core Consulting Series. He also has a special interest in cloud computing. In his free time, he loves playing football (soccer), video gaming and cooking.

Sanjay Gospodinov

Programs: Finance

McDonough School of Business, C’23

Sanjay is a Sophomore in the College majoring in Political Economy. On campus, he is an analyst with the Georgetown Student Investment Fund where he does research on securities in the Consumer & Retail sector. He is also a consultant with DCivitas, a consulting club at Georgetown that advises nonprofits in DC. Additionally, he is a board member of Georgetown Bipartisan Coalition where he also is the editor-in-chief of their publication, The Consensus, and the host of The Consensus Podcast. Off campus, he is an intern with Singleton Valuations, a financial advisory firm/investment fund, where he analyzes companies and their financials for potential investments.

Brian Spencer

Programs: Finance

Brian is a rising sophomore in the MSB from Princeton Junction, New Jersey. He transferred to Georgetown after one semester at the University of Richmond and has really enjoyed his time at Georgetown since. In the MSB, He is majoring in Finance and minoring in Operations & Information Management. He is a Peer Ambassador for the MSB and a member of GUSIF. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, watching soccer, traveling, and exploring the DC area. He is a huge fan of the Premier League and follows Manchester United. He plans on studying abroad at some point in the future. After college, he is looking to go into either investment banking or consulting. With this internship, he hopes to gain experience in the consulting space and learn from his peers and mentors. He is super excited to be working with the BDOG team!

Robin Wang

Program: MS in Data Science and Analytics

Robin is a second year MS Data Science and Analytics student at Georgetown. Originally from Sichuan, China, he got his undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics from Auburn University.

At Georgetown, he is a teaching assistant for three classes, including a deep learning class, a SQL class, and the bootcamp for new MSDS students that covers coding basics in python and R. He is also a research assistant for the department of government, where he utilizes his knowledge in supply chain and data science to analyze supply chain data and to see if they are linked to policy changes.

In his free time, he enjoys cooking, basketball, and hiking with his 2-yr old puppy. He is a fan of the LA Lakers, Auburn Tigers and Georgetown Hoyas.

Box Wu

Program: Economics

Box Wu is from New York City, New York. He is majoring in Economics with minors in Computer Science and Statistics. Box is currently a leader in Georgetown ESCAPE, where he leads overnight retreats for first-year students. He is also a mentor at YTT, a nonprofit organization based in New York City, where he helps underprivileged and first-generation high school students through the college application process. Box is also involved in the music scenes at Georgetown. He played for the Georgetown Orchestra, Nomadic Theatre, and Mask and Bauble. He is also the bassist for Georgetown Cabaret. In the future, Box hopes to work in the field of development and environmental economics. In his free time, Box loves jamming with friends, running along the Potomac River, and watching soccer. He is a big Tottenham fan.

Lillian Beckwith

Programs: Science, Technology & International Affairs

Lillian Beckwith is a junior majoring in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with minors in Spanish and Biology. On campus, Lillian is president of Irish American Society and dances in the club’s Irish Dance troupe. Additionally, she serves as director of personnel and external relations for Georgetown Student Capital Partners, Georgetown’s private equity and venture capital club. She is also a Commissioner of SAC, the student organization that manages and distributes club funding. Lillian is interested in the policy/government side of consulting and previously worked as a research associate at Business Executives for National Security, a non-profit that brought best business practices to the public sector. Outside of work and school, Lillian enjoys exploring new restaurants, baking, and traveling.

Robin Jia

Program: MS in Data Science and Analytics

Graduate School of Art and Science

Robin graduated from Dickinson College in May 2019 with a B.S. in Mathematics and a concentration in Business Analysis. At Georgetown, he is most involved with GU Analytics for Nonprofits, a student group that leverages the power of Data Analytics to consult with nonprofits in DC. This semester, he is leading a project with a think tank that specializes in evaluating and analyzing foreign policy bills for the 116th Congress. In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing basketball, hiking, and cooking.

Gaurav Asthana

Programs: Finance, Operations & Information Management

McDonough School of Business, C’22

Gaurav plans to double major in Finance and Operations and Information Management with a minor in Government. On campus, he is most involved with Hilltop Consultants, an entirely student-run strategy consulting group that works with nonprofits in DC. This semester, he is leading a project with a national organization that works with childhood recipients of welfare. Outside of class, Gaurav enjoys playing tennis and poker, as well as following Boston sports.

Zhiyu Lin

Program: MS in Data Analytics

Graduate School of Arts & Sciences

Zhiyu graduated Macalester College in May 2019 with a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics and a concentration in Legal Studies. In 2019, She completed her thesis on using survival analysis to predict when the Supreme Court overrules prior decisions. In 2017 and 2018, Zhiyu worked for the UnitedHealth Group as a Database Analyst Intern, and the Dragon Catcher Legal-tech LLC as a Data Scientist Intern. Before to coming to Georgetown, she also worked on-campus as a program coordinator for the Undergraduate Career Center and a philanthropy coordinator for the Annual Fund Office. In her free time, Zhiyu likes to go to group fitness classes, play classical piano and spend time with her cat Rosemary.

Programs: Science, Technology & International Affairs

Walsh School of Foreign Service, C’22

Sydney is majoring in Science, Technology and International Affairs. On campus, Sydney is a consultant for Hilltop Consultants, providing innovative strategies to nonprofits around the world to maximize social impact, and a member of the Georgetown University Student Investment Fund. She also serves as director of communications for the Georgetown International Relations Club and the professional development chair for the Asian American Student Association. During summer 2019, Sydney worked at Stone & Chalk, Australasia’s leading Fintech startup innovation hub, on the development and growth of the Investor Program connecting startups to smart capital.
