Interns of the Business Design & Optimization Group are exceptional undergraduate and graduate students will a passion for project management and consulting. Each year a new cohort of students join the team and help to make a positive impact on the university and its constituents.
Current Interns

Katherine Lisecky
Program: Economics & Business Studies
Undergraduate Lead Intern – GRAD 2024
Katherine is a senior majoring in Economics and minoring in Business Administration. On campus, she enjoys playing on the club soccer team and giving back to the community through philanthropic organizations such as HoyaTHON. This past summer, she interned with Alvarez & Marsal in their Corporate Performance Improvement group and is looking forward to returning in September following graduation as a full-time analyst. Outside of work, you can find Katherine trying new restaurants in DC, playing the piano/guitar, and staying active.

Ian Gresenz
Program: Economics
Undergraduate Lead Intern – GRAD 2025
Ian is a junior in the College from McLean, Virginia. He is majoring in Economics with a minor in Mathematics, particularly interested in statistics and game theory. On campus, he is a member of the Quantitative Finance Club and enjoys playing basketball and ping pong in his free time. He recently interned at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York City and is looking forward to returning next summer. Outside of academics, Ian enjoys solving the Rubik’s cube, reading one piece, and playing video games. Having grown up in the area, he is also a big fan of Washington sports, particularly the Commanders and the Wizards.

Brian Spencer
Program: Finance & English
Undergraduate Intern – GRAD 2024
Brian is a senior in the MSB from Princeton Junction, New Jersey. In the MSB, He is majoring in Finance and minoring in English. He is a Peer Ambassador Captain for the MSB and a member of GUSIF. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, watching soccer, traveling, and exploring the DC area. He is a huge fan of the Premier League and follows Manchester United. He studied abroad in Barcelona in Spring 2023. After college, he will be working in investment banking in New York City.

Dylan Long
Program: Global Business and French
Undergraduate Intern – GRAD 2024
Dylan is a junior in the SFS majoring in Global Business with a minor in French from Newport Beach, California. He currently serves as the COO of HoyAlytics, Georgetown’s undergraduate data analytics and consulting organization, where he previously served as a Project Manager and the VP of Marketing. In his current role, he manages the club’s semesterly events, overall strategy, and day-to-day operations. He recently spent six weeks abroad in Paris, where he took courses in international business and politics conducted in French. After college, Dylan hopes to enter a position in the consulting field that incorporates his interests in international relations and data analysis. In his free time, he loves learning new languages, going to the beach, hiking, and attending concerts.

Ziwen Lu
Program: Master of Public Policy
Data Science Intern – GRAD 2024
Ziwen is a second-year graduate student at the McCourt School of Public Policy from Beijing, China. She is also a production assistant for the Department of Performing Arts. During the spring and summer, she served as a research assistant at the Georgetown Institute of Women, Peace, and Security, supporting index calculation based on data analysis and visualization skills. After graduation, Ziwen hopes to work as a research assistant or data analyst in a think tank or international organization. Ziwen likes to practice Chinese calligraphy and play table tennis in her free time, and she is also a big fan of video games. Her favorite sitcom is Community by Dan Harmon.

Nafis Imtiaz
Program: Technology Management
Data Science Intern – GRAD 2024
Nafis is a first-year graduate student in the School of Continuing Studies, originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is majoring in Technology Management with a specialization in Business Intelligence and Big Data Analytics. He is currently serving as the Director of the International Students Committee in GradGov, the graduate student government of Georgetown University. Prior to starting grad school, Nafis worked in the FinTech department of a digital solutions company in the capacity of a Business and Investment Analyst for four years. After graduation, he hopes to work as a product manager for a disruptive technology company in the US. Beyond academics, Nafis loves playing and watching sports – specifically soccer, basketball, tennis, and table tennis. He is a devoted fan of Arsenal in the English Premier League and LA Lakers in the NBA. He also develops written and video content for sports marketing agencies as passion projects. Nafis is a huge fan of mysteries and psychological thrillers, and will often binge TV shows in his spare time.

Yifei Yin
Program: Data Science and Analytics
Data Science Intern – GRAD 2024
Yifei is a second year graduate student in the Data Science and Analytics program with particular interests in financial and social-science data. She completed her undergraduate studies in UC Berkeley majoring in Economics and Data Science. In her previous internships, Yifei has built corporate credit analysis models for a consumer bank and delivered visualizations and statistical findings in a time series analysis on small business performance for a public client during COVID recovery. She plans to pursue a career in consulting or data science after graduation. In her free time, Yifei enjoys cooking, traveling, visiting museums and galleries, and hanging out with her furry friends.

John Yang
Program: Economics and Computer Science
Undergraduate Intern – GRAD 2025
John is a junior in the college from Shanghai, China. He is majoring in Economics and Computer Science. John possesses a keen interest in harnessing his combined proficiency in both business and technology to facilitate effective communication between technical experts and executives within organizations. On campus, John serves as the Vice President of the International Student Association, in which he orchestrates events aimed at nurturing Georgetown’s international student community and amplifying the voices of international students. His dedication to fostering inclusivity and cultural diversity within the university is evident through these efforts. Recently, John interned at Ernst & Young’s consulting branch in Shanghai. After college, John hopes to enter a position in the consulting field that incorporates his interest in business operations and digital transformation.

Joe Tichansky
Program: Finance
Undergraduate Intern – GRAD 2026
Joe is a sophomore in the McDonough School of Business, majoring in Finance with a minor in Mathematics. Joe currently works as a TA for Calculus, is the COO and Co-Founder of Theta Investment Group, and is an Analyst in the Venture Capital Division for Georgetown Student Capital Partners. In his free time, Joe enjoys running, reading, fishing, and playing basketball at Yates.
